Data School at Utrecht University investigates how big data and AI impact citizenship and democracy, and how public administration is transforming. Our team of researchers and experts works on pioneering projects that shape the future of areas such as social media research and digital ethics. We aim not only to understand technological and social changes but also to develop applications to address the challenges these changes bring. Our research produces practical solutions, such as educational formats for training and upskilling, and practical impact assessments and audits for implementing responsible data and AI practices. Our goal is to conduct impactful research that informs policy and practice.

Our mission

Data School promotes knowledge development on the role of data and AI in society, actively contributing to responsibility and ethical practices. We collaborate and connect societal and cultural sectors with the university, offering development opportunities for both students and professionals.
